During Dog Days of Summer, the San Antonio Botanical Garden welcomes leashed dogs to explore the Garden alongside their humans on select mornings from July 6 through August 31, 2026.

Stroll shady pathways, sniff out new scents, and enjoy a peaceful morning surrounded by beautiful gardens before the Texas heat settles in.

Dog Days of Summer Hours:

July 6 – August 31, 2026

  • Dogs are welcome during morning admission hours: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • All dogs must exit the Garden by 12 p.m.
  • SABG members are also welcome to bring their dogs during Members-Only Hour from 7–8 a.m.
  • ADA-defined service animals are welcome at the Garden during all operating hours.

Dog Days of Summer Guidelines

To help everyone have a safe and enjoyable visit, please follow these guidelines:

  • Dogs must be well-behaved, socialized, and potty trained.
  • Dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Complimentary waste bags are available at the admission kiosk upon request.
  • We recommend bringing no more than two to three dogs per guest.
  • If a dog becomes disruptive or poses a safety concern for guests, staff, or other animals, SABG staff may ask the owner to leave.

Areas Where Dogs Are Not Permitted

For the protection of plants, wildlife, and guests, dogs (other than ADA-defined service animals) are not permitted in the following areas:

  • Culinary Garden
  • Family Adventure Garden
  • Children’s Vegetable Garden
  • Inside Conservatory exhibit rooms
