A Vision for the Future

The Strategic Master Plan is a bold, long-term vision guiding the Garden’s growth over the next decade and beyond.

Cultivating a Vision for the Future

Rooted in ecology, education, and community connection, the plan reimagines how visitors experience plants, landscapes, and learning—while protecting the natural systems that sustain them.

Through revitalized gardens, immersive habitats, and innovative new facilities, the Master Plan ensures the Garden continues to thrive as a living museum, environmental steward, and welcoming public space for all.

Immersive Pollinator Meadow & Garden Core

At the heart of the Master Plan is a vibrant, multi-acre pollinator meadow that connects major garden areas into a continuous living landscape.

This immersive environment will:

  • Support bees, butterflies, birds, and native species
  • Serve as a living classroom for conservation education
  • Create a beautiful seasonal display of native plants and wildflowers

The meadow becomes both an ecological anchor and a visual centerpiece of the Garden.

How the Plan Was Shaped

The Strategic Master Plan was shaped through a collaborative process uniting landscape architects, architects, horticultural experts, Garden leadership, and community voices. Public input sessions and stakeholder workshops helped define priorities, ensuring the plan reflects both environmental responsibility and the needs of San Antonio residents—balancing design innovation with ecological stewardship and cultural connection.

The Master Plan will be implemented in thoughtful phases over the coming years.

Each phase focuses on:

  • Ecological restoration
  • New garden experiences
  • Educational infrastructure
  • Visitor improvements

As projects progress, the Garden will continue to share updates, timelines, and opportunities to engage with the transformation.
