The Garden of Infinite Music
Created by Aric Attas in collaboration with living trees and plants throughout San Antonio Botanical Garden, The Garden of Infinite Music is a series of generative sound installations shaped by subtle electrical energy patterns gathered directly from the living world.
The work is not a scientific translation of plant activity, but an artistic collaboration between nature, technology, and imagination. The live biodata guides adaptive generative systems that continuously compose new music, allowing each installation to evolve without repeating. Every moment is unique, and the music exists only in the present.
Presented as part of Infinity Day, one installation will remain in the garden throughout the month, unfolding from biodata gathered during the event. Like the living processes that shape the natural world, the music is in constant transformation, with each moment giving rise to the next in ways that cannot
be predicted or repeated.
Rather than offering answers, the work invites a different way of encountering the living world. It suggests that technology can serve as a bridge to curiosity, wonder, and a deeper appreciation of the beauty, complexity, and mystery that surround us every day.
