Katherine Trumble joined the San Antonio Botanical Garden in May 2020 as Director of Development and was promoted to President & CEO in May 2024. With nearly 20 years of experience, Katherine is well-practiced in nonprofit management and leading a comprehensive fund development program. She has built a career around a passion for servant leadership and championing the importance of cultural institutions within our community. With the Garden team, Katherine played an integral role in tripling the Garden’s operational budget and membership since privatization in 2019.
Prior to the Botanical Garden, Katherine worked in leadership positions at the McNay Art Museum, the Briscoe Western Art Museum, and Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Montgomery, AL. Katherine began her career as a Fellow at El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs, CO. Katherine holds a B.A. in American Studies and Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Denver. Katherine and her husband Kris live in San Antonio with their two daughters.

Lisa Medrano joined the San Antonio Botanical Garden in 2023 as the Chief Financial Officer. Lisa oversees all aspects of the accounting and finance operations for the Garden. Lisa comes to the Garden with over thirty-five years of experience in the non-profit and public sectors, most recently serving the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, where she was the Vice President of Finance/Controller for seven years. Prior to that she was the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance for Retama Park. She began her accounting career with the international accounting firm of KPMG working in the audit department for eight years. Lisa holds a B.S.B.A in Accounting from the University of South Dakota and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas. She is a prior recipient of the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Rising Stars and has been a long-time volunteer, serving in many roles, with the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
Hannah Roberts Packard joins the San Antonio Botanical Garden as Chief Development Officer in 2024, bringing over 16 years of experience guiding mission-driven organizations toward success. Passionate about building community through arts, culture, and environmental stewardship, Hannah is deeply aligned with the Garden’s mission to enrich lives through plants and nature.
Previously, Hannah spent nearly eight years at The University of Texas at Austin, where she most recently led the Foundation Relations team as Senior Director, supporting student and research initiatives. She also served as Chief Development Officer for the University of Texas Libraries, advancing special collections and expanding access to rare materials. Earlier in her career, Hannah played a key role in developing the fundraising program for Big Medium, a prominent Austin-based visual arts nonprofit.
Hannah holds a B.A. in Art History from Texas State University. A third-generation San Antonian, she is excited to settle in the city with her husband, Charles, and their daughter, Grace Joanna. The family looks forward to becoming active members of the Garden’s vibrant community.
Andrew Labay joined the San Antonio Botanical Garden in 2017 as a horticulturist responsible for the Lucile Halsell Conservatory’s plant production and plant collections. In 2020, he was promoted to Director of Horticulture. In this role, Andrew oversees the management of horticulture operations and plant collections across all gardens. He brings over 10 years’ experience in horticulture with a strong background in greenhouse management and perennial fruit crops. Prior to joining the Botanical Garden, Andrew served as a viticulture program specialist with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension. Andrew holds a M.S. of Integrative Plant Biology from the University of Montpellier II, located in the south of France.
Katie Erickson joined the San Antonio Botanical Garden in 2017 as Director of Programs. Katie has over 15 years of nonprofit experience in educational programming, engaging diverse audiences, and developing community partnerships. Most recently, Katie served as director of education at the San Antonio Museum of Art for 10 years and brings extensive experience in programming with Pre-K-12, family, and adult audiences. Katie received her B.A. in Art History from the University of California at Santa Cruz and M.A. in Museum Learning and Visitor Studies from the University of Leicester.
Michael Eason joined the San Antonio Botanical Garden in 2017 as the Center for Plant Conservation representative, leading South Texas rare plant conservation efforts. In 2022, he transitioned to a full-time role to expand the Garden’s conservation and living collections programs. As Vice President of Conservation & Collections, he oversees initiatives in seed banking, tissue culture, and native plant propagation, with a focus on the flora of Texas, the Southwest US, and northern Mexico.
With more than two decades of experience as a conservation botanist, Michael previously managed conservation and field survey programs at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and led native plant consulting projects through his firm, Texas Flora. He is the author of Wildflowers of Texas (Timber Press, 2018) and is currently developing additional works on Texas flora. Michael serves on the Board of Directors of the International Oak Society, as Vice-Chair of the Conservation Community for the American Public Gardens Association, and as State Botanist for the Native Plant Society of Texas.
Sam Hogg is the Director of Operations at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Sam joined the Botanical Garden in 2016 with 10 years of experience in the facilities operations industry. In this role, Sam oversees the functioning of all 34 building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management for the 38-acre property. Sam has been heavily involved in the operating facets of the $40M capital project, with Phase I & II ranging from landscape irrigation to the state-of-art facilities.
Alex Ramos is a dynamic leader with expertise in event coordination, logistics, and venue sales. As Associate Vice President of Sales and Events, and previously Director of Sales and Events at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, he has driven substantial revenue growth and enhanced community engagement, consistently surpassing sales goals.
Alex’s strategic vision and operational excellence have elevated signature events like Splendor in the Garden and Bubbles and Blooms. He also oversees the Garden’s liquor licensing for onsite sales, boosting event profitability.
With prior leadership roles at the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and La Gloria Group, Alex brings a wealth of experience in event planning, ticket sales, and sponsorship management. His proven ability to execute high-impact events while fostering community partnerships makes him a valuable asset in creating memorable, mission-aligned experiences
